ABOUT MEL:

Music is in my blood! I was born in Kansas City, and I grew up with popular music, jazz, and the blues. My family, especially my father, loved jazz and the blues—Kansas City style! I started singing when I was a child. I began singing professionally before I was twenty, traveling with bands and groups throughout mid-America and the Southwest.

The high point in my current singing career was appearing in the Monterey Blues Festival in 2009, and singing with The Amy Treadwell Band, and Teeny Tucker, the renown international blues singer.

Singing has always been my first love. But being on the radio in Missouri every day is a close second. You can hear "Farmin' Mel Harmon" on KMZU 100.7 FM—"The Farm"—Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. KMZU broadcasts from Carrollton, in the heartland of north central Missouri. For me, every day in this vocation is a learning experience and pure joy!

In addition to my radio work I make regular personal singing appearances throughout the Missouri Valley area with the band, “Five O’Clock Somewhere”.

The songs on my CD “Hearts, Ballads and Blues” are among my favorite songs. I have been singing them for many years. I am especially fond of “Feels Like Home”, “I Can’t Make You Love Me”, and “Georgia On My Mind”.

I love to sing all of these songs. I hope you will enjoy listening to them as much as I did in singing them for you.
